A nine-year-old boy from Barangay Looc, Dumanjug, Cebu has been diagnosed with multiple hyperdontia, a rare condition of having additional teeth.
Johncris Carl Quirante, a grade four student, reportedly has around 300 teeth, almost 20 times more than that of the regular 32 teeth that an adult acquires.
On Thursday, 40 of Quirante’s teeth were extracted under a pyogenic granuloma treatment.
According to reports, Quirante still needs to undergo seven more operations in order to extract all of his extra teeth.
However, despite his unfortunate condition, Quirante seems to be doing just fine. When interviewed, Quirante said that he aspires to be a civil engineer in the future.
Quirante’s teachers said that academically, the boy has not let his condition be a hindrance to his education because he is actually excelling in his class.
