MANILA – It was all fun, games and memes until a popular Facebook community admin uploaded the wrong photo – a Yolanda victim who reportedly lost her entire family during the super typhoon’s onslaught.
What made it wrong is that the admin put a supposedly funny caption on the picture: Lord kung hindi po siya para sa akin, pwede nyo na po siyang kunin.
The picture posted on Philippine Pie [R-18], a community page with more than 250k fans quickly became viral, with most hating the page and criticizing the admin who uploaded the made-up meme.
Welbert Bauyaban who identified himself as a Yolanda survivor from Leyte was hurt upon seeing the picture. He said the calamity was so heartbreaking and no one should create a humorous material out of it.
I’m also a Yolanda Survivor from Leyte and it hurts so much knowing that some of our countrymen don’t know how to pay respect for us and for what we’ve been through. If you were in our shoes, would you like to experience the same? The calamity that hit us last year was so heartbreaking because it washed away all our properties and killed lives of our loved ones. And knowing that people like you who used to create humors out of our agony is definitely devastating. You are no different from Yolanda! I will not pray for you to experience the same worse typhoon but mind you, karma strikes twice. Please pay respect not just to us being victims but also as human, if you really are HUMAN! You don’t know what we’ve been through and what we have suffered a lot.
Glenn Caballes Garduce encouraged the admin to make funny posts, without hurting anybody. “Kung sino man ang admin na nagpost nito sana, give some respect naman. That man lost his entire family during typhoon Yolanda he is in agony.

The page already deleted the offending meme, and issued a public apology.
