It’s a story too familiar to students living in poverty.

An image of a handwritten letter caught the attention of netizens after public school teacher Christian Joy Ordoña shared it in his Facebook wall.

The letter came from one of his students in Bongabon National High School in Nueva Ecija and it explains why the student was unable to come to the school.

The letter reads:

Dear Sir Jay,

The teacher blocked the name of the student, but this didn’t stop netizens to be touched by the story.

Ordoña narrated how he got the letter.
